How to become a volunteer
Cosy Companion will support your journey in finding a volunteer opportunity at aged-care homes in various locations

01
Research
After one or a few locations have been chosen from our previous Locations page, it is important to ensure that this aged-care home is convenient and suitable for your schedule and experience. Please ensure you have checked:
-
resident and staff safety legislation
-
possible opportunities for underage volunteers (high school students) - if a ⭐️ location is chosen, then this is already assured
-
type of residential homes - dementia/palliative care homes will be less interactive then other homes.
02
Contact
Follow the contact list and send through an email to their service desk, or if possible, their volunteer coordinator!
These are the resources for:
-
draft for sending volunteers applications
-
specific volunteer links for different homes!

03
Response
A response will take up to a few working days to 2 weeks, but feel free to always give the receptionists a call to ensure that they have received your email and application!
04
Further training
A requirement is the NDIS check for volunteers. This is commonly referred to as the Worker screening check and is usually uncommon for volunteer opportunities; however in part of the healthcare sector, this is required
